Supported Charities

We are dedicated through our Local Business Support Programme to:

• supporting Local Hospices in the U.K.
• helping save our environment for future generations
• improving the life of disabled & disadvantaged children
• Protection of threatened species

To this end we donate £14 or 28% of each full Basic Subscription received to Charities that support the above objectives.

Our currently supported Programs include:

Local Hospices in the U.K. (through Help the Hospices Charity)

Wheelchairs for the Disabled (through the Geoff Bone Wheelchair Project)

Protection of the Mountain Gorillas (through the Dian Fossey Charity

Protection of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the U.K.

This donation is distributed equally unless the Subscriber requests a different split.

Local Hospice Care Programmme (ongoing annual program)

Learnmall is committed to donating £4 from every full Business Subscription to the Local Hospices. This enables Local Businesses to support their Local Hospice when they include their details in their Learnmall Local Directory. We are working with and through Help the Hospices organisation to deliver subscriber donations to their local hospice.

Hospices care for the whole person, aiming to meet all needs - physical, emotional, social and spiritual. At home, in day care and in the hospice, they care for the person who is facing the end of life and for those who love them. Nearly half of all people admitted to a hospice return home again. The average length of stay is just 13 days. All care is free of charge.

Geoff Bone Wheelchair Project

Learnmall is committed to fund 2 containers of 550 wheelchairs each at the cost of £54,000 by the end of 2007

130 Million disabled people around the world are too poor to buy a Wheelchair. As a result they suffer the indignity of having to crawl on the ground or be carried by friends and family. We are supporting this project with a target of donating sufficient to sponsor 2 container loads holding 550 wheelchairs each.

Save the Mountain Gorilllas (Dian Fossey Charity - http://www.gorillafund.org/

Learnmall objective is to adopt all the Bwindi & Mountain Gorillas at a cost of approximately £20,000 per year.

Learnmall has embarked upon a project to adopt either a mother and infant pair of Gorillas, or an infant or a Silverback for each of its local directories. Our first Silverback will be sponsored by the Business Subscribers to our Local Hotels directory. www.localhotels.co.uk. More information on the silverback will be available on that Website in due course.

Upon completion of our adoption program we hope to have adopted all 700 of the remaining threatened Bwindi and Mountain Gorillas.
